Cold-climate performance

For heating-dominated climates, review capacity at low outdoor temperatures. A system that looks adequately sized at mild conditions may require supplemental heat during colder periods if its low-temperature capacity does not match the building load.

Electrical considerations

Outdoor units, air handlers and resistance backup heaters can require substantial electrical capacity. Ask the contractor whether the existing panel and circuits are sufficient and whether electrical upgrades are included in the quote.
