What the calculator holds constant

The same annual delivered heating demand is used for both systems. This isolates the effect of fuel price, existing-system efficiency and heat-pump COP.

Important limitation

Heat-pump COP varies with outdoor temperature, equipment, controls, defrost and backup heat. A single seasonal COP is a planning assumption, not a guaranteed field result.
